Health Corner

What is the #1 killer disease in America? You've guessed it.....Heart Disease. America has a high percentage of obesity within the population, higher than any other country in the world! Why is that? Because it is very easy to for Americans to get their hands on non healthy food choices. Plus, it is much cheaper to eat non healthy foods. A greasy, fatty double cheeseburger from McDonald's only cost you $1. Salmon on the other hand, which is a GOOD source of omega-3 fatty acids, which helps reduce the risk of cardiac disease, will cost you about $5 or more per serving. Why does healthier foods cost much more than healthier foods? Because the better the benefits, the higher the cost.

I understand that many Americans can't afford the high costs of healthier choice foods. But I have a solution: use coupons when shopping at the grocery store, and avoid fast food restaurants as much as possible. You can save the money that you were going to spend for fast food, and use that money to purchase healthier foods.

We must take care of ourselves as well as each other. So, encourage a family member and a friend to stop eating fast food, and pick up some fruits and vegetables. It will take you a long way, give you more energy, as well as make you feel good. Plus, it will save you some doctor visits in the long run.

Don't let heart disease be a casualty to you or any of your loved ones. Heart disease is very much preventable.....it does not have to take you down! SO practice healthy eating with your loved ones....they will thank you and you will thank yourself!

Let's have a healthy eating party!!!!!
